It has already been confirmed that Mortal Kombat would be getting downloadable content, but a new report says that some of them (character skins, in particular) won't exactly be new additions.

One PS3 gamer has reportedly been able to crack the game's config file, and among the gems listed are on-disc DLC for playable characters Kratos, Quan Chi, Cyber Sub Zero, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Reptile, Mileena, Kitana, and Jade. It seems not all of the DLC will be unlocks, though, as there will also be skins for Kratos, Quan Chi, and Cyber Sub Zero listed as specifically not on-disc.

The first batch of DLC for the game has been confirmed by developer NetherRealms to feature Kenshi from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and Scarlet, an ascended glitch from Mortal Kombat II.

Another thing found is a word filter full of chat words that may be deemed offensive by players. The list is rather long and some are NSFW, but you check the full list at the source link below. Just to give you an idea, they range from 'bitch' to 'bloody fart' and worse. There are even non-English words on the list.

I long for the day when unlocks become available through the course of gameplay again. :(

Mortal Kombat is awesome so far! I just found a blog that's giving out the preorder DLC for all the costumes, and the new Kenshi character DLC!

I just got my Reptile Klassic Kostume but I don't know if there's anymore keys left. If you want to check it out, here's the site:

For some reason they deem 'estupido' (stupid) a bad word, yet 'pendejo' is okay. what the hell?

They forgot "puñeta", too.

"Puñeta" isn't necessary an insult, but it can be.

For a game as this, they sure did censor the words a lot.

This is a prime example of why I don't support the dlc market. Use to be on disc unlock content was free, now companies like this have put a price tag even on the content that should be free. The dlc market needs mass boycotting for the gaming industry to wake up and realize they can't continue to steal money from us the gamers, for stuff they can afford to give away free. If the game is successful they usually make there money back with a profit just selling the game don't they?

Thes are the classic costumes that you get for preordering the game. It is not like you payed for that.

DLC thats on the disc is NOT DLC, its a SCAM.
They make you pay for stuff you already have.

How would they like to buy a BlueRay player but when you get it home you have to get online and buy the ability to play DVDs. It's got the ability already and you already paid for it so it should already have that feature.
Same for games. You paid for the game, that extra stuff is on the disc so you shouldn't have to pay for it again, it should already be available and free.

Look up the economics behind the decision and you'll understand why developers tend to do this.

So, a game that was banned in Australia for being too violent has a word filter for whom?

Stupid! I hate this supposed dlc that is not actually dlc. They should just come clean and call it an add on unlock key. Fucking retards are worried about words people use when they promote bloody killings. It's funny that you can't say bloody but you can show it. I guess it is ok to have sex too as long as you don't say fuck. That's our society, having the habits of the very old ways when people think they are being watched by a god and that sounds coming from their mouth will help bring Hell on Earth or them to Hell. Earth is not the center of the Universe people!

Re GUNBEHINDTHESUN

Incorrect. The Earth IS the center of the Universe.

1) The Center of any space is that point which has equal distance on all sides of it.
2) The Universe has infinite space in all directions
3) Any center of Infinite space must be drawn from a subjective point of view
4) Earth is the only place in the universe known to have inhabitants capable of subjective thought.

Ergo, the Earth is the only known 'Center of the Universe'

And yes, DLC on disks is just a way to get more money out of people buying the game.

Actually, the universe is not infinite but constantly expanding. So no, Earth is not the center of the universe. But nice try anyways.

OH FOR FUCK SAKE!!

THIS IS NOT DLC ON DISC.

Cyber-Sub, QuanChi are unlockable by playing Story, the classic costumes are for pre-orders, which will be available later for free anyway.

The download content you will pay for IS NOT ON THE DISC!!

GEEEEZ!!!

Actually your wrong, on the extra's not being on the disk. Your correct in Cyber-Sub Zero and Quan Chi being unlockable in the game and alternative costome for Kratos is also in the PS3 edition. Thou the "pre-order codes" are built into the game. All you do when you redeem them is download the image used in the battle loading screen.

The Jailbreak scene of ps3 only need to edit a file and the extra DLC content in game, is unlocked, minus the vs screen image as stated.

Just do a simple search online for it, you'll find what you need.
