Persona 5 team using new engine

Following the recent announcement of the PS Vita version of Atlus' PS2 title, Persona 4, we now have new info regarding the Persona series' next numbered entry, Persona 5.

First off, the key people behind Persona 4 have been confirmed to be back on board for Persona 5. Katsura Hashino will return as the game's director, with Shoji Meguro and Shigenori Soejima coming back as composer and character designer, respectively.

While details on the game's plot remain practically nonexistent, director Hashino shared that the themes they want to cover in the game have already been decided on. The most he'd say about what they were is that the staff wants to take on more challenging things compared to Persona 3.

On the technical side, Persona 5 will make use of a new engine made in-house instead of using a third-party engine like in Catherine. The engine as well as preliminary development on the game are complete, but Hashino warns fans that it may be a while before the game launches. In the meantime, there's always next month's Persona 2: Innocent Sin and, later on, Persona 4 the Golden to look forward to.
