Ninja Gaiden 3's violence is not mindless |

The Ninja Gaiden games have built up a reputation for brutal, blood-soaked violence ever since Tomonobu Itagaki and his team revived the franchise back in 2004. Now that Itagaki has left Tecmo Koei, Team Ninja wants to take a different approach and try to give more gravitas to the violence.
In Ninja Gaiden 3, Team Ninja wants to drive home the point that Ryu is a dark hero. As such, the team is making a conscious effort to bring the guilt that players may feel while cutting down Ryu's enemies to the surface.
"If people want to take the easy way out or a cleaner way out -- not killing people -- that's not what the story is about and what Ryu Hayabusa is about," said studio lead Yosuke Hayashi. "To be a dark hero, you have to do bad things in order to do good."
These "bad things" involves Ryu's disregard for the lives of the ninjas he faces, but in Ninja Gaiden 3, players won't be able to freely dole out decapitations with every swing of a katana. Hayashi explains that this was done to make players feel what it's like to actually kill someone with a sword. "Once you start lopping off limbs," he said, "your enemy goes from being a living thing that you're killing to just a thing."
To further add to the massive guilt trip that Ryu and the players will constantly be subjected to, Hayashi noted that "hear their dying breaths in your ear -- that's the kind of visceral violence we're going for in Ninja Gaiden 3". Remember that guy who was desperately pleading for his life in the Ninja Gaiden 3 trailer released a few days back? It seems that scenario will be rather commonplace in the game.
Team Ninja and Tecmo Koei have assured series fans before that Ninja Gaiden 3 will be better without Itagaki at the helm, but it still remains to be seen whether this route will become a welcome one. For all we know, all that pleading could become just another irritation -- a reason to start wishing we could hack off enemy limbs willy nilly.

To me, the violence is not necessarily. Ninja Gaiden for PS3 is no longer a ninja gaiden of NES version anymore. They are damaged it. The lust is right there... A violence and sexuality. Its terrible and inhumanity of all. Seriously. Sadly.

They take people for fools just like they lied and said Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on PS3 didn't need all that bloodshed. Lets make it blue smoke instead.
