It took Polyphony Digital a long time to finally push Gran Turismo 5 out the door, and even now we're still getting updates for the hit racing game. To prepare players for the next update, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed a few details about what it contains.

The upcoming update, which will go live a couple of weeks from now, is based on the feedback that the developers have received from Gran Turismo 5's loyal player base. Apparently, a lot of players have been asking for interior views for the standard car models, so the devs have decided to add that in the new update.

"I believed from the initial release of Gran Turismo 5 that it would be the users that would make the game grow thereafter, and we added things like interior views for the standard models because there was a lot of request for it from our users," said Yamauchi. "You could say that this update is the shape and form of GT5 that was created through the opinions of our fans."

The update will also feature the 2011 season versions of the 11 NASCAR vehicles already in the game. Other imporvements include greatly reduced load times when loading races, quicker menu response times, and adjustable opponent AI in Arcade Mode. Players will also be able to save during lengthy racing events and adjust weather conditions using a slider that goes from mild to severe.

In addition, the shuffle mode and the photo mode are being expanded with additional functionality. Support for the Logitech G25 and G27 racing wheels is being added as well.

Finally, the downloadable content that Polyphony Digital teased a while back has been confirmed to contain new vehicles and tracks along with "some additional surprises." No release dates yet, so keep an eye out for more news about it in the coming weeks.

I know everyone has been freaking out about the "inside the car view" on the premium cars. When you really break down the gripes people had about GT5, basically this was their only problem with the game, but honestly I still can't figure out why.

Its a game, not reality, so having the interior view of the car only hurts your field of view and limits how much of the game you can really see - the opposite of what you want in a racing game. Also, this view is actually less realistic on the whole since in reality your field of vision is not fixed, and can quickly move up and down or side to side. This is currently not possible in racing games, so all you are left with is massive burn in on your screen from the interior of a car you are not really in and a more limited field of vision.

Yea, sounds like a real deal breaker for me. This is one of those situations where no matter how good this game was, people would bitch and moan, and minus the in race save option, PD should have just ignored the gripes of people who are mostly fanboying anyway.

Remember gt5 Supports head tracking, inside view is not always restricted.

With the camera of course.

I can't freaken wait fro this update.

yes, but unlike forza 3 or 4, GT5 is vastly over-rated and imbalanced

I too prefer Forza3 over GT5, but it's nice getting free cars.
I spent almost 20+€ for the FM3 DLCs and still it's not complete, I miss 3 car packs.. That's just stupid..
