If you were planning on hitting the sticks for some pro basketball hardwood action next month via NBA Live 13, your plans have been put on hold, as EA Sports announced it would not hit shelves for an expected October 2 release date. 

In essence, this announcement by Electronic Arts isn't an official delay.  Why?  They never really set an official launch date in the first place.  Instead, many around the industry felt that NBA Live 13 would release on the second of next month as a direct competitor to NBA 2K13.

So, while the lack of an October 2 release is bad news for fans of the NBA Live sports franchise, it could have been worse.  Some believed EA Sports would trash the NBA Live 13 project altogether, just as they did with NBA Elite 11 two years ago.  That doesn't seem likely this time around, since a new trailer for NBA Live 13 has finally made the rounds.

As EA Sports takes extra time to improve the upcoming title, we can only hope that it will make the game that much better in the end.  Of course, you could just pick up NBA 2K13 to quench your basketball thirst, and skip out on the NBA Live release altogether.
