The Tales fanbase in the west may be much smaller than the one in Japan but it has been quite vocal about the desire for more localized Tales games. Namco Bandai, for their part, have promised to meet fans' enthusiasm with a larger focus on international releases.
"We've taken a lot of steps as a company from the point we've released Vesperia to where we are now," Namco Bandai associate brand manager Josh Sepielli told Shacknews. "There's a lot more coordination with Japan when we're getting these games, when we're getting information. We're going to start getting the timing closer together. We're very focused on being a lot more international."
Fans of the franchise currently have two titles to look forward to. Nintendo 3DS owners will get an enhanced remake of the PS2 game, Tales of the Abyss. There's also Tales of Graces F, an enhanced PS3-exclusive remake of the Wii original, Tales of Graces.
The localization of another PS3 exclusive, Tales of Xillia, is also looking pretty good, but Sepielli said that it will depend a lot on how well Tales of Graces F and Tales of the Abyss will do in terms of sales.
"The fan base is very hardcore; but at the same time, they don't make a very large audience," he admitted. "I'd be lying to you if I said if these games bomb, they're going to turn around and make Xillia."
Long story short: if you want more Tales games to be localized then go out and buy the ones that Namco Bandai does release in the west. I'll certainly do my part since I want any future Radiant Mythology games to be localized too.
