Legacy of Kain hasn't been forgotten |

Before he joined Naughty Dog, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception co-lead designer, Richard Lemarchand, worked on a fantasy action series called Legacy of Kain. If you've been gaming for a while, you'll likely be familiar with it.
The series, which followed the exploits of the powerful vampires Kain and Raziel, was lauded for its tight story and impressive mechanics. There have been no new entries in the series since Legacy of Kain: Defiance came out in 2003 on PC, PS2, and the original Xbox, but that doesn't mean the people who made it have already fogotten about Kain and Raziel.
"Well, as you might know, Amy Hennig, the creative director at Naughty Dog and I worked together on the Soul Reaver series," said Lemarchand in an interview by gaming news site The Gaming Liberty. "She invited me onto the team when I was a younger game designer.
"We had an amazing time working on those games. I think we both learned a tremendous amount about working with making action games and storytelling games from those games. I dare say we both cut our teeth on Soul Reaver. It was an amazing series and I really love the Soul Reaver games to this day. I would love to see them come back at some point."
Lemarchand and Hennig's departure from Defiance developer Crystal Dynamics is thought to have adversely affected the game's quality, so it would be nice to see what they can do to revive it for the current generation of gamers. Sadly, though, there's actually little chance of the two of them making a new Kain game as they are both currently busy with finishing up Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and the rights to the series are still held by Crystal Dynamics. Still, it's nice to imagine.

Would be awesome if Crystal Dynamics would team up with Naughty Dog to make a remake and a new series!

In fact I thought Akuji was actually funner.
Crystal dynamics is a bit over-rated.
Their TR reboots also had that same "standard issue" feel like the legacy of kain games.

Unfortunately, once Crystal Dynamics was given the Tomb Raider series, they seemed to forget all about LoK... though it's probably Eidos' call, not theirs. A TR game is always going to sell better than a LoK one, so it's unlikely we'll see them spending their TR resources on the less profitable LoK any time soon.
