Kojima wants to hand off MGS to someone else but can't |

We've seen numerous entries in the Metal Gear series since the first game hit the MSX2 back in 1987. These have spanned everything from a jump to the Solid series and numbered sequels to spin-offs and remakes.
Amidst all of Snake's (Solid and Naked, and oh, Raiden too) adventures, series mastermind Hideo Kojima started thinking about handing off the series to a worthy successor. No matter how many times he tried to do it, though, he always aventually had to jump right back in and take hold of the reins.
"I have tried in the past. I've tried to hand Metal Gear off to other people within the studio and I've tried to raise people up so they have the ability to take over," Kojima told GameTrailers. "And I think since Metal Gear Solid 3, I've tried this and actually did hand it off and have other people come up with the story and come up with the game design.
"But for some reason it just never really works out. And, you know, I end up having to step in again to take charge and kind of fix things here and there and just get sucked back in unfortunately."
It's plain to see that Kojima loves the series he created. So much, in fact, that he says he wants it to continue ever after he dies. That hopefully won't happen for a long time yet, but right now Kojima assured fans of the series that as long as people want to play Metal Gear Solid games he'll continue to make them.

I'm hoping Hideo will continue with the MGS for another iteration or two and manage to piece everything together in a solid ending... Though MGS4 actually did kind of do that. Maybe we'll never really have enough of this series, but it has to end at some point. I just hope it ends with a bang instead of losing steam gradually in sub-par sequels.
