Ivy, two new characters confirmed for Soul Calibur V |

There's a gap of 17 years between Soul Calibur IV and Soul Calibur V, but Ivy fans don't need to fear that they'll be stuck controlling a wrinkly old version of the voluptuous fighter. Although she'll be 49 chronologically in the series' upcoming installment, Ivy will look pretty much the same in Soul Calibur V thanks to that whole "no longer aging" bit.

The snake sword wielder was just one of three fighters recently detailed by Namco Bandai in a post on the US PlayStation blog. Also introduced to gamers was new character Natsu, series mainstay Taki's apprentice.
"SCV's sharper and faster battle system really compliments Natsu’s ninja speed and evasive maneuvers," explains producer Hisaharu Tago. "After you use Natsu, you can discard any prejudice you may have that she is simply a replacement for Taki." He also hinted at the possibility of Taki returning by making sure to state that Natsu's master is still alive.
Another new character is a man who calls himself Z.W.E.I. He's shown holding a short sword, but apparently that's not his main method of attack. Tago says that Z.W.E.I.'s inclusion "is making SoulCalibur's 'Weapon-based Fighting Game' style step into all-new territory." Gamers can look forward to a gameplay video on the 25th.

These three are but a handful of the fighters that make up Soul Calibur V's roster. Until August 5, 2011, fans of the series can come up with a character name and favorite weapon fighting style for a chance to be selected as part of the retail version of Soul Calibur V.
