The Bit.Trip series originally released on Nintendo platforms is finally coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 via an all-new re-imagined downloadable game entitled Bit.Trip Presents: Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien.
Inspired by the original series, Runner 2 will see CommanderVideo make his debut on HD consoles with a different, more organic look. He, along with other playable characters, will also get more than ten new abilities and unlockable costumes.
CommanderVideo's not the only one getting a makeover, too. The game's overall art style, described by the devs as "smooth, graphic, and somewhat cartoony", is a huge departure from the 8-bit look of the original games. Runner 2 will also feature achievements / trophies and leaderboards. Difficulty modes and checkpoints are in as well.
The game is currently being developed by Bit.Trip masterminds Gaijin Games, with Aksys Games signing on as publisher. Runner 2 is currently slated for release next year on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The original Bit.Trip Runner is already available for download on Nintendo's WiiWare service.
