Square Enix may be in pretty bad financial shape lately, but the company's flagship console role playing game series is still going strong. During E3 2011, Square Enix announced that the entire Final Fantasy series has now shipped more than 100 million units worldwide. That puts it with other 100 million markers like Mario, The Sims, FIFA, and Need for Speed.
Also at E3, Square Enix is showing off the follow-up to last year's Final Fantasy XIII, entitled Final Fantasy XIII-2. Here's the game's E3 2011 trailer:
According to producer Yoshinori Kitase and director Motomu Toriyama, the story in XIII-2 will be a tad darker compared to the original. This darker story will continue the events that transpired at the end of Final Fantasy XIII and complete the original's plot. It will have its own twists and turns and will not be so straightforward.
Lighting and her friends will be returning, although some of them will undergo "major and unexpected changes". The XIII-2 team reportedly took in criticism from gamers regarding characters, the story, and the interface. The game's currently slated for release in early 2012.

-Linear world
-C*** turn-based system
(I love turn-based RPGs but FFXIII's was horrible)
I'm pretty excited about this game now.

Nobody remembers Lightning. Hence, she "no longer exists". Serah for some reason does.
