Codemasters: F1 2011 is not a rehash

Yearly releases in a video game series tend to carry the "rehash" stigma with them. According to Codemasters, such is most definitely not the case with F1 2011.

"I think we've been working even harder because the success of last year meant you can't really take your foot off the pedal," lead gameplay designer Steven Hood told Official Xbox Magazine in the latest OXM Report.

Hood added that with the foundation of tech they built through the past iterations of the series, they can now freely focus on putting in what everybody wants to see in F1 2011.

"People are automatically thinking 'they're going to do a quick update, put in the same tracks again, some new cars', as you mention," the designer said. "Nothing could be further from the truth. This is about putting cool new features in."

Codemasters has earlier stated that F1 2011 will include a ton of content that would "compel" racing fans to buy the series' latest iteration.
