I played Dead Island this week at a friend's house, despite not being able to get a copy for myself due to a mix of lack of funds, University, extracurricular activities and fighting an insane head cold which has left me feverish and mildly deluded into thinking I'm a video game journalist. I am a zombie in this land and wish to be intelligable.

This isn't going to be a serious Dead Island review as I didn't play all of the game and I don't think a game can really be judged on it's merits without immersing or enjoying a large amount or full experience. With Dead Island, I'll just say right off the bat I enjoyed my experience and time on Banoi and I can't wait to go back there. If you really want to know what I think just skip to the last line of this page and save yourself some time.

Now on Dead Island, or rather the Island of Banoi full of the Undead (probably a rejected title or mistranslation in Brazil), you begin with a lovely hip hop track asking “Who do you Voodoo, Bitch?” with a party raging and the visuals looking like a mix between the music video for Smack My Bitch Up and the House of the Dead movie, sans the Sega product placement and drug use.
I was told the game had split-screen and I do admit this was my fault, but the lack of split screen seriously almost had me abort this review (...then the commenters cheered), so we had to get another mate - who had luckily just bought the game - over and then system linked the consoles.
However, back to the prologue, a random character takes some random pills and some “not Jack Daniels” you passout in your hotel room, a small intro then you're in the game. The tone of the game already is a bit of a rough mix, showing a violent party with a self-destructive character and anyone who's seen the trailers for Dead Island knows they were not sneaking off in any comedic territory unless you thought the trailer was meant to be all “cool” and “ironic”, you hipster douche.
