Pre orders are important to the games industry. It gauges everything from advertising, to upcoming releases, to trends to even how much you'll probably play of the game before you return it for credit. But that all doesn't matter when the game is finally released. The money begins to flow, especially when you're topping sales charts. The money is already slowly rolling in for Rocksteady Games as Arkham City has the no. 1 spot on the 360 charts for pre-orders and 3rd on the PS3 Charts. Amazon is taking in this data and not sure how where else is doing.
The facts from Amazon don't seem to be tainted but I can see why it's important to see where it's coming from as people who purchase it from the site right now will get a $10 gift card and a limited edition comic book from the great guys at DC Comics...who obviously own the license to the great series. Also really interesting to note is the collectors edition...It's pretty fancy, even for a person who's not a big Batfan. You get a custom Batman Statue, Collectible Art Book with early sketches and looks at the latest game, Early Access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Skin from the upcoming film, Batman: Arkham City Album, Bonus animated movie Batman: Gothmam Knight, and Four Collectible Cards...all for the low low American price of $99...wait that's not low at all.
