Ó
Wait a second, back up a bit. Now we're doing a Worldwide launch in November? Alright, ok then, gotcha, but what's this about the HDD? Will it come standard or not? Strangely enough, Ken Kutaragi was unable to state categorically that it would be included, he did however hint very strongly at this being the case, mentioning that
"The hardware was developed with the hard disk in mind," and also stating that developers had been informed to create games with the assumption that the HDD would be present (yay!... maybe.) The HDD is expected to be a 60GB upgradeable drive with support of Linux OS with full internet access and the ability to act as a home server. And what's the latest on the PlayStation HUB I hear you ask? Well, word straight fro Kutaragi's lips is that starting at the systems launch in November, the online component will include community tools such as lobby and voice chat, as well as commerce features including bootable software from the HDD (yowsa!) The software was created with the help of SOE (Sony Online Entertaiment - The Untold Legends dudes) and the basic service will be free!
And Blu-Ray, what about that huh? Well the latest news indicates that Sony will not be launching any games on DVD, they will all come on Blu-Ray discs (looks like they're trying to deal DVD the death blow).
More news as it becomes available!
