Venix GUI Downgrader Bricks Consoles |

The guys over at the PS3Dev wiki took it upon themselves to rip apart the Venix GUI downgrader application to see exactly how it works. According to their findings, Venix will report bad dumps as good as well as generate corrupt patch files. When all of these files are flashed back to the PS3, it will brick the console instead of actually downgrading it. To make matters worse, Venix has no protections in place to prevent things like these from happening in the first place.
They also urged to use proper methods to validate and patch your dumps for flashing:
Validate flash dumps first and use Flowrebuilder or Winskeet with autopatcher instead.
The message is clear, stay away from the Venix GUI downgrader app, if you want to keep your PS3 alive.
