Over the past few days, it has undoubtedly become an exciting time to be a PlayStation Vita owner. Between all of the different hacks and homebrew developments that have emerged over the past few days, it's getting more and more difficult for the modding scene to dismiss Sony's latest handheld as a failed attempt at a console. Coming straight from the developer famously known as YifanLu is a Hello World demonstration of the infamous project known as UV Loader.

For those of you that aren't following the scene quite so closely, UV Loader is a new user mode exploit found within the PS Vita operating system. Essentially, this supposed little bug is going to give hackers and homebrewers a whole mess of new options to consider when designing their applications. At the present, we now use a tool known as VHBL to launch such programs, but the fact is, those means are limited by the fact that they operate within the system's PSP emulator. For the first time, this particular loader will give us access to the actual Vita hardware, which means a whole lot more resources at our disposal.

As you can see from the video found at the source link below, even in user mode there are very few things that can't be created by ambitious developers. Sure any viewer will just see a quick spinning cube on the screen, but the detail on the object itself is really quite impressive for a hack. Still, much to the delight of hardcore scene members, don't expect to be running ISOs with this bug. The limitations of user mode itself would prohibit any of that kind of action from happening. If you love Sony, and you love your homebrew, this little piece of video proof leaves lots to be excited about.

Roms = Cartridge games (ie. Nes, Snes, Genesis)

Iso's = cd's, dvd's and blu ray's

Unless the vita plays cartridge games it will be iso's that people are trying to emulate on the Vita. The psp when cracked played iso's not roms!

PSP uses discs, so they're ISOs.
PS Vita uses flash memory cards, so they're ROMs.

if the data is put together into one file that archives the data in a file\folder format THAT could then be burnt to a CD or DVD for backup or storage, then it is an ISO. ISO is in regards to the file system covered by ISO 9660.

An ISO can be a SD Card image, and PSVita cartridges are like an SD...

A ISO is just a image file, like a ROM. Just change the structure and extension.

Fucking noobs.
