Why didn't the Vita go all-digital? |

Consumers are not yet ready for digital-only platforms, says Sony.

The PSP Go failed miserably because of its digital-only strategy. A mistake that Sony wants to leave behind. That's why in developing the PlayStation Vita, they've listened to their loyal consumers and agree upon on one thing, the world is not yet ready for an all-digital platform.
"We believe, for some consumers, the time is [right], but for other consumers, the time is still not [right]," Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida told Edge in a recent interview. "So we believe the time is still not right to go download-only as a platform. Some PS Vita titles, like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, will be close to 4GB in size, which could be too large to download for consumers who do not have a fast broadband connection. Also, some consumers like shopping in retail stores, talking to knowledgeable store clerks, buying and playing games on the spot. We do not want to remove that capability from consumers."
SCE Europe boss Jim Ryan added: "There are consumers in parts of the world – this is a global device – where the digital model has not yet fully been embraced."
And I got to agree. One thing more, I still prefer my games in the box. How about you gus? Recently, a pricing scheme released by Square Enix hinted on the possible pricing standards for the handheld.
The PlayStation Vita will arrive in Japan this December. No specific date yet for US and Europe.

Cause everyone else hasn't already thought and felt that way for the 3 years of the shitty PSPGO.

Even some of the most advanced games on the platform, Infinity Blade and RAGE, are laughably inadequate compared to a typical DS game.
Cellphone games are not the same as console, pc, and handheld games.
