Vita YouTube App Updated to 2.0 |

As it stands in version 1.0, the PlayStation Vita app certainly didn't have a lot to offer for those hoping to get their mobile media fix. Sure it offered basic account functionality and the ability to watch movies from your memory stick, but in general that's about it. If you're a real YouTube enthusiast you know that over the years the service has grown exponentially to accommodate a lot more than just passive observation. Thanks to this sizable Vita app update, Sony's latest handheld has begun to make strides in catching up to these changes.

The first area where version 2.0 shines is the immediately obvious addition of the subscription bar on the side of the screen. From there, you'll have access to all of the subscribed channels in your account, and when new ones are posted this menu will be updated to display all of your new content. A spot for favorites is still mapped out as well. In addition to this, the YouTube player itself has seen significant improvements including the ability to enable captions and create playlists on your device right from inside the playing clip.
That's all well and good, but you should also be reminded of the few things that this update did not fix as well. As of right now, the videos you watch on YouTube are still not streamed, which means you'll have to have a little bit of extra room on your memory card if you plan on checking out what the service has to offer. At least that still leaves some room for improvement I suppose. All in all, video junkies should find a lot to love about YouTube 2.0 on the Vita.
