Vita to Support Multiple Accounts After All

Earlier this week, we reported on the news that Sony would be limiting the Vita to one PSN account. The decision sparked a bit of anger in the gaming community, but it’s not much different from the PSP’s current setup and overall wasn't that huge a deal. However, Sony has recently made a statement with the intent of clarifying some of the news that’s been flying around – namely, that Vita will in fact support more than one PSN account.

But before you get too excited, there is one catch: you’ll need a separate memory card for each PSN account you wish to use. According to Sony, your account bonds to your memory card – not to your device. If you have more than one memory card, you’ll be able to bond separate accounts to each card and swap back and forth without resetting your system. If you have only one memory card, you’ll need to perform a factory reset every time you want to change accounts.

It’s not the best use of multiple accounts, but it’s certainly better than what we thought we were dealing with. This way, if you have one PSN account for yourself and one for your children, you can save each account to separate memory cards and switch back and forth as you play.

Assuming you want to shell out for more than one of Sony’s ridiculously priced memory cards, that is.

What do you think of Vita’s PSN support?

Now all you multi-accounters can stop wining about the circumstance you put yourself in in the first place.

LOL i thought it was dumb when they said it didnt.
"Can I try your vita?"
"No you'll screw up my K/D."
"Well can you make an account for me?"
"Can't."
Would of been the worse marketing approach, though you can still tell em get your own if you want.

Nevermind, this is Bull S*** still, I read the whole article finally.

If they dont come with free 512s in the box I dont see how theyre going to make any money. Yeah in china or japan, where ever they are from, yeah theyll sell by people seeing them everywhere. Not in north armerica, its gonna be hard enough to make sales here, and not being able to add a trial or guest account is gonna squash it. Yeah they dont want people sharing but if they play it enough and like it they'll probably get their own. Yeah in china its not good a idea, I kno that. But I'm not gonna buy an extra memory card and most people wont for a year or two. gl sony..

HOMEBREW will probably be the only thing going for it, they should just realize it, I'm not for pirating but damn some of the apps I use everyday, I'll play a sony game once in a blue moon because they're crap (No devs or dedication). They should just add custom app ability and stop hoarding the money they arent getting because of it.

I don't know what they're expecting to do.. Damn japs, they were stupid in world war 2 and they're still just as dumb.

At this point, I think I am just gonna stop caring about the Vita until it is actually released.

Think about it.. if you dropped and broke your vita, you can just take the memory card and put into another vita and you don't have to go through all that configuration again.

It is kinda cool that you essentially have all of your account details saved to one card and all, but it feels a little weird.

I don't really care about it all though, I will be enjoying my Vita regardless of how many accounts it can hold.

Btw, anyone have any tech details of those Memory Cards yet ? I want to know what justifies those high prices... crazy-above average read and write speeds perhaps ? Who knows...

( And QJ, you might wanna report on this:

You want a guest account so people don't mess up your trophies? Just take the memory stick out. Problem solved.

the vita and the memory card are both tied to 1 account even if u change your memory card wont do, you have to do a factory reset.

Another false article here is what sony spokesman said "[The] PSN account is tied to the hardware and the memory card, not just the card which means that if a second person is using your Vita, it’s not just a case of switching out memory cards, it’s clearing out all of your saved data on the Vita itself when you do the factory reset. In other words, PlayStation Vita is intended to be played by only one user.” get ur facts right before posting an article pls
