Vita Release Pushed Back to Spring |
Listed in: News Tags: amazon.com, ps vita, Sony, vita release date
If you’ve pre-ordered a PlayStation Vita or checked one out online, you probably noticed that the device was due sometime in December. While games retailers didn’t have an official date (as Sony never announced one), most seemed to be convinced the cutting-edge handheld would show up on shelves sometime during the holiday season.

Unfortunately, those dreams have been crushed by Amazon.com, which has updated its shipping date from Decemberish to March 31st. Most industry experts predicted a spring release and it’s not really clear why retailers were so convinced that the unit would ship sooner, but whatever the reason you’re going to have to wait until March to pick up your brand new PlayStation Vita.
The Vita marks the first time a dedicated handheld gaming system will be compatible with 3G networks, allowing users to download games and play online wherever they can pick up a signal. This service won’t be free, however, and anyone that wants to take advantage of the 3G version’s extra features will need to pay for some sort of data package from AT&T.
Concerns over the Japanese Vita’s data cap of 20 megabytes have been raised regarding the North American release, but theres’ still no hard data on whether or not the unit will ship with some sort of cap or bandwidth limitation. Sony devotees will just have to wait and see what the company works out with AT&T. Hopefully there’s some sort of information made public before the device launches in March.
In my experience, Sony is happy to provide gamers with everything they desire, as long as the price is right.

If we somehow do get a CFW or HomebrewEnabler , then that would be cool. It's never unlikely to find an exploit, but sony will tighten the security this time and prevent that by doing Firmware updates and varies updates on games to limit the user from accessing homebrew.

I only trust one source though, Gamespot-EBgames, they say its coming out September still. Until its official none of this is true.
Place holders mean nothing.
