Vita price drop egged on by analysts in the wake of 3DS price cut |

With Nintendo conceding that the sales of the 3DS won't be going up unless they bring down the prce tag, analysts are now egging Sony to do the same for their PlayStation Vita.
One such analyst is Tokyo-based Yukinobu Takeda, who pointed out that the "PS Vita's quite expensive." Not for anything else, but this price is what will keep him at bay from Sony's up and coming handheld. "I don't think I'll be one of those people rushing to buy it on the release date."

Chiming in is another Japanese anaylyst, Ace Securities Co.'s Hideki Yasuda. "Gamers are increasingly anticipating Sony to lower prices, especially after the 3DS cut. Sony is under major pressure to cut the price of the Vita or risk a major failure."
It's probably called for to point out that as it stands, the Vita's launch price - at US$ 249 to US$ 299 (3G)/ JPY 29,980 (US$ 317) is much pricier than the 3DS, especially now that Nintendo's slashed back its tag to as much as US$ 169.
Kaz Hirai, meanwhile, seems keen to stand by his ground and maintain the current price points for the PS Vita. So said Sony's president for Consumer & Products Services group, "We have a very good product at a very affordable price. There's no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game industry decided they were going to."
PlayStation Vita's release dates for US and Europe have been pushed back, as confirmed last week. I guess that should give indie devs more time to enjoy their free dev kits.

Anyways, this is competition. I don't think the price of the 3DS will impact the PSV much, but if it'll help the consumers, I'm all for a PSV price drop. :)

Same here. That would be the best decision ever made! While they're at it they could drop the processor back to dual core and remove the second Analog stick, I'd rather have the free space to stroke slowly and softly. :)

the non 3G version is already priced the same as the PSP version last year.
for those who are expecting a $149.99 price tag for the non 3G version and more RAM would be impossible, you really don't think Sony is that dumb don't you?
damn these are all just speculations, the damn handheld isn't even out yet and there's already someone who writes about lowering its price.

QJ is reporting on an analyst who is analyzing his opinion of gamers' opinions.
Is this some kind of hearsay inception?

I'm prety sure that the titles will introduce more gameplay time and better visuals.I'm sure that there will be more DLC that the PSP has and this will make the games longer too

I for one would be more than happy to shell out an extra $80 for the more powerful system.
I just hope they nail it on the head with games this time around, although I guess it'll beat all the shovelware that's on the 3DS!

because like it or not by the time the vita comes out the 3ds will have some monster titles out that would make anybody want it over the vita we'll just have to see if the vita can come out with great portable games not just crappy ps3 ports

I think $250 is a great price considering what you're getting.
You're saying this is expensive and you wouldn't say a word to the idiots who bought iPads...
