Vita 2012 release not a worry according to Sony.

Initially, the Playstation Vita was expected to come out before Christmas, but it was announced at E3 2011 that the Vita faced delays.

After an intense vita hands on at E3, the handheld buzz was all about the Vita, but that already existed according to Sony.

Interview via [All Things Digital]

"The delays were due to meeting demand, the pre-orders are substantial".

"We've increased production materially since E3. We learned our lesson to make sure you have enough product."

The Playstation Vita launches in 2012 at $249.99 (for the Wi-Fi-only model) and $299.99 (for the 3G model).

vitabox Release dates will be staggered for different regions, with Japan seeing the handheld first on December 17.

For those in a North America of Europe Region, the wait will be a little longer, with the Vita release date being February 22, 2012.

So, the release for Japan is right in time for the 'Christmas' rush, but the North America and Europe release for the Vita is not?

Isn't that a little contradictory Sony?

Perhaps they analysed that the demand for the Vita was higher in Japan, so it is safer to release there first and make sure all orders are fulfilled?

How about you guys and girls, still excited for the Vita? Or have the recent 3ds Firmware update previews left you wanting more of the 3DS this christmas?

i think it does matter, as long as it gives time for more tittle launch, thus i think it good to launch a console with a lot of tittles with it to choose from- good titles that is- and not just one good tittle- uncharted-...unlike 3ds- nothing to it, learning from other peoples mistake its called been smart...

I think it should be a worry to them also, handhelds are not doing so crash hot, some extra christmas sales might be good for them

Yeah they should wait a little longer i have a 3ds and the launch game that came with it man was who am i lying they sucked hopefully the vita will be better

Even if I agree with that still vita is much superior even
Without games. Remember 5' oled touch? For me this will
serve as browser media device while my 3ds such for anything other than pure gaming.

On the another hand, Asia gets all the nice psp colors and all we get is the god damn piano black... and terrible psp value packs...

Sigh. Either way, I am gonna wait till 2013.

I'm just gonna ask my parents to give me $250 bucks for christmas for a Vita since it is a few days after my Birthday.

I'm excited for the Vita! It has a good line up of games coming to it and it has a lot of potential to be a great console I mean look at the tech inside it! I'm a bit annoyed that I have to wait till feb to get my hands on a Vita! Don't mind laying down the few hundred poundfried it. I can see it becoming a great handheld!
All I want is a wifi version! Don't really want the 3G version.
All I hope is that it won't feel bogged down by the current climb in mobile phone tech!
I currently own a 3DS but to be honest it's not my cup of tea!
I want full on epic COD,BF, Killzone, Uncharted, GTA & Red dead games made for the vita games that the 3DS could probably never have!
Well I'll just have to buy one in feb (pre-ordered it in GAME) and wait to see what games get released for it

Of course they aren't worried, February is when people get returns from taxes...
Sony is very smart/sneaky, I'll say that.

It has done nothing to wow me. Surveys show most people could care less about the 3D. I will keep my DS and wait for the Vita.

Right. I'd rather wait than go to a store and be disappointed to know it's sold out.

lets not forget that japan is full of videogame lovers, so it only makes sense they meet that high demands of gamers there than n. america full of pirates,lol
