Taco Bell Screws Up Vita Comp |
Listed in: News Tags: ps vita competition, Sony, taco bell fail, unlock the box, vita and taco bell

You may remember some time ago how we told you Taco Bell was holding a competition where you went into one of their fine establishments and you purchased some of their meals and you could win a Vita. Well hopefully you haven't been called by Taco Bell recently, as the restaurant has apologised to a lot of customers this week who were mistakenly informed that they had won a PS Vita and I honestly expect them to be sued some day soon.
To all those internationally, Taco Bell was having a competition where you would buy a Big Box and then punch the code into the Taco Bell website with your details and then wait for a possible win, I mean on the box, they even said there's a winner every 15 minutes. However, Taco Bell has known about this problem for a few weeks but it's just gotten down the grape vine now.
The first trouble came when the customers began complaining about being told they had won but then repeatedly ignored when making contact with the company. Multiple people were told that Taco Bell may take a few days to verify the entries but then Taco Bell sent a statement to Kotakuu suggesting that shenanigans were afoot. The official statement was "The Unlock the Box promotion has been tremendously popular with consumers who want to get their hands on a Sony Vita, but unfortunately a small group of people have tried to game the system."
A later statement made it simply that nearly all complaints were from the same contest winners who had the URL for the winners page but did NOT have winning entries. The company said it was looking into all the entries to ensure that all legitimate winners received a Vita and that several members of the Facebook group "Taco Bell Vita" have stated they have actually received their systems.
The biggest problem is that Taco Bell has confirmed that the wrong winning messages were in fact triggered by someone screwing with their system. Taco Bell made another statement earlier this week saying that "we have learned that during a short period of time on January 30th, some people entering our "Unlock the Box" promotion erroneously received a message suggesting they had won a Playstation Vita, pending verification," but Taco Bell have been gracious with everyone who was sent a "hey you've won" and then told nope, has been put into a second draw to win a Vita.
But hey if you still love Burritos and Enchiladas, the contest is still running and will continue to do so until March 11th...so I dunno, go for it, I love Mexican food, I love Sony, if there were Taco Bell's here in Australia, I know what I'd be buying for lunch.

The customers have no loses in which to sue for.
Seriously, QJ writers need to stop commenting on the law. It's embarrassing.
