A post on the PlayStation Blog has announced that Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable will be released for the PS Vita on January 8^th in North America. The game will come in the form of a digital download and will cost $39.99.

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable has been remastered from the original Earth Defense Force 2017 to give Vita players an entirely new gaming experience. The game will feature seven new levels, new enemies, and selection of over 230 weapons. Another highlight of the upcoming release is that you will be able to use the popular Pale Wing to “soar high over buildings in her jet pack and cause massive destruction from above.” Online multiplayer will be possible in co-op and versus modes for up to four players.
