Red Alert: PS Vita Gets a Price Drop |
Listed in: News Tags: phantasy star online 2, price drops, ps vita, Sony, vita
Good news for those of you that want a Vita but don’t want to pony up the cash: It looks like a price drop is on the way. Sony officially announced a reduced price for the Vita in Japan starting February 28, and it stands to reason that the new price will eventually find its way to the west.

The PS Vita is dropping from ¥24,980 (£174 / $269) to ¥19,980 (£139 / $215). Not a bad start. Additionally, the new Ice Silver Vita will launch on the same day as the cut, bundled with Phantasy Star Online 2.
So now it looks like we’re all just playing the waiting game. A western price cut seems like an inevitability, but you can never really depend on Sony to do the practical thing. Besides, there’s still those ridiculous memory cards to consider. Guess it’s all up to the geniuses in charge of Vita.
What do you think? Will you pick up a Vita if the price is reduced?

I also doubt us early adopters will see anything like an ambassador program i.e. free games for paying more, but in their defense it has been more than a full year for the drop to take place and if I see an English release for PSO2 I'll be more than happy with my Vita (for the first time).

Also could have been a marketing scheme. They knock the price down $80 to make it seem like you are getting a deal while in fact, you should have been paying $170 in the first place, giving the illusion of paying $170 for a $250 product.
