The PS Vita is hotting up to be the must-have multi-touch tech for the coming year. Whilst people in the past have been speculative about the technology and what it could do, the current application line-up is quite interesting. With several main social-networking apps being thrown into the ring, we could easily see PS Vita be as popular as Google's Android.

With Facebook, Foursqaure, Twitter and Skype, you could be connected all the time and could majorly influence an American-based market. With the camera, 512 RAM, possibly 3G, Playstation games and a big fanbase, PS Vita may be the must have item of next year.

Sony may need to prioritise whether more people will be buying the handheld as a piece of technology as a games device. A lot of people have claimed that the schizophrenic marketing and re-do of the classic PSP was to explain Sony's misapprehension when it came to creating something to serve gamers (i.e. long time fans) and new customers.

Will you be getting a PS Vita and if so or if not, why?

I hated that menu when I flashed my WM5 phone to WM6.5.

What was wrong with the XMB? I better be able to add or remove icons to the "desktop".

Also, Netflix.

I think the bubble thing is weird looking too. I'd love to see a new version of the XMB. I feel like the bubble might just be a template, similar to the iPhone's little button system. Sony should really talk to some design people about that.
Netflix would be awesomely amazing on a PSVita, it's a good size screen

Privacy comes to mind hope these are optional apps that can be downloaded from the Sony psn store and don't come preinstalled. As I don't use apps like Facebook and Twitter for communication and don't want them!

Because we all know Facebook and Twitter apps work without an account.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF WEATHER OR NOT THE VITA WILL HAVE L3 AND R3 BUTTONS? IF NOT, THEN IT WILL BE A MAJOR MISTAKE, ESPECIALLY FOR SHOOTERS; NO ANALOG BUTTONS MEANS NO SPRINTING IN COD AND BATTLEFIELD.

The dual analogues are interesting and make me think that they are still leaning on the Vita being a casual handheld console.

Yeah. If it were a hardcore handheld console it'd have 3 analog sticks.

You can run with joystick-if U want to walk U pull it lightly
if U want to run just pull it as much as you can

STOP YELLING
And no, it's been confirmed that the analog sticks to not 'click' so no R3 or L3
But you have a multitouch screen and a read touchpad, so I'm not complaining.

Can you imagine the plastic grade and physical aspects they'd have to change to make clicking the stick not damage the PCB or screen? The R/L3 buttons are the hardest to press to keep them from being accidentally pressed. You pretty much have to leverage against the entire controller. Now imagine doing that with a portable.

Couldn't care less about the social media tools, if I'm buying a console it's to fucking play games on it.

The bubbly menu reminds me of Dreamcast, nice to have it back.

I'll definitely buy a PS Vita but maybe a few weeks after because there might be more offers (PS Vita + 5 games) or so and at a reasonable price.

So Sony will be paying royalties to Microsoft still I see.
Since Microsoft bought SKYPE earlier this year.
I am surprised that it will be still using SKYPE for the VITA.
I still want a good web browser for the VITA, and it better have it. Also better get netflix like the 3DS as well.
