PS Vita Firmware Update Has Some Cool Shit |

The Vita hasn't come out here in Australia or in the US or Europe yet and Japan is reaping all the benefits, if you call several updates benefits and in a way I do. As long as you're not paying to improve or upgrade your product, I say that's a benefit. Of course, consoles back in the 90's or earlier wouldn't dare get away with this, "Oh hey, our console isn't finished", shit. They'd be burned at the stake with Crash Bandicoot, Pac-Man and Donkey Kong all throwing fuel to the fire.
The Vita's next update which should be out right now will include video recording, map features with their GPS and ability to sync and work with Mac products. These features will hopefully all be available at the time of the US launch. The camera app was only limited to photos, but as of 1.6 you can record video any time you want.
Also their new maps app will be added to the console for free and people can access the new app from their home screen and should get access to all the regular features GPS technology gives you. You know, being able to see your house from up here, spying on ex-girlfriends, looking at secret military bases, all that kind of fun...as well as on-the-go navigation for those who purchase the 3G system.
Now with the whole Mac synching thingy, Sony has just released a Mac-Vita program called the Content Management Assistant for PS Vita owners. Vita owners can use CMAP to sync their computer and their Vita's simultaneously. So every hipster who doesn't own an iPhone can now just use their Vita on the go and sync all their gawdy looking photos and terrible indie music all at once.

The fact that something is updated doesn't mean its unfinished, especially when they're additions rather than fixes.

I think you can use WiFi triangulation instead of GPS or pre-set location with zip code or address, so you should be able to at least map out routes and stuff, but won't be able to take it on the road with you unless you're going through a highly wireless populated area. I'm sure you can save maps like Android has, though.
