Sony has finally revealed the release date of the PlayStation Vita in Japan. While we'll have to wait until next year to grab hold of the device, Japanese gamers can look forward for a December 17th release date.

Announced earlier today during the company’s pre Tokyo Game Show press conference, the Vita will be available in two SKUs, a Wi-Fi only model, which will cost ¥24,980 and a 3G version, priced at ¥29,980, with NTT DoCoMo handling the 3G service.
NTT Docomo will have two new subscription plans designed for the Vita. A 20 hour prepaid plan will cost which will cost ¥980 yen (about US$ 13), and a 100 hour prepaid plan for ¥4,980 (about $65).
Here in the US, if you remember, it will be AT&T handling the 3G service, with the Wi-Fi only model costing US$ 249 and a 3G/WiFi model for US$ 299.
