PlayStation Vita coming this October? |
Listed in: News Tags: blockbuster, Samsung, Sony, vita
Looks like we'll be getting Sony's latest portable wonder sooner than expected, if the latest advertising flier is true.
An advertisement from a Blockbuster store in the UK has listed a possible release date of the PlayStation Vita in Europe. The ad, which you can see below, has both Vita models listed for a European release on Friday, October 28th. The authenticity of the ad is yet unknown as it was only sent by an IGN reader and Blockbuster has yet to confirm if its legit or not. When asked to comment, Sony only said that PS Vita would receive a "phased global release" this holiday season but failed to confirm the release date of the device.

In other Vita news, Andriasang reports that Samsung will provide the CPU for Sony's upcoming handheld.
The info comes from The Semiconductor Industry News which revealed that the Korean manufacturing giant will provide 45nm CPU to be used on the device. The Vita uses a ARM Cortex A9 core (4 core) CPU.

And despite it being an amazing system according to specs, a name is important.
sony "vita" will fail and then sony will be out of the biz IMO.

Now that the dust has settled, many appear to be embracing the Vita name without hostility. Sure, some people still call it the NGP, but Vita fits well with Sony’s other product lines such as Bravia TVs and VAIO laptops. It’s elegant, and perhaps a little sexy, something that sits perfectly with the handheld’s sleek style, round curves, and 3DS-eclipsing hardware and feature sets.
In short, I like it now =)

Sounds like a personal problem to me.

I'm also making an educated guess that "vita" is the base for the word "vitality"

Usually when products are rushed out earlier than expected, they turn out sub-par. Features are left out, bugs are missed, assembly is cheap, ect... And what about the games? Are they going to be rushed out as well in order to meet the new early deadline? Sounds like a horrible plan to me. I'd rather wait for a well designed, well tested product, than buy a quickly made disappointment.
