PlayStation Mobile Store Now on PS Vita and Select Android Devices |
Listed in: Games, News Tags: android, mobile playstation store, Sony
It has been a while since we have heard the first mentions of a mobile PlayStation Store that offers games you can play on several different devices. However as of today, that idea has become a reality with the launching of a fresh new app for the PS Vita as well as a very limited number of Android phones and tablets. This is a little bit different than the regular PSN store in that the games offered here will be readily available on several different venues other than the simple Sony branded products.

As all mobile stores should, this one launched silently and exclusively to many different mobile platforms before we had even heard what was about to happen. Sony is a company that does like to surprise their followers, so suffice to say this addition was certainly an unexpected but welcome one. As you can see from the above screenshot, the PlayStation Vita app has a pretty sleek and outstanding interface for users to mess around with Obviously if you've seen what the store looks like on the PS3 especially, what you see here is probably going to look oddly familiar.
As far as devices go, initial reports do seem to be hit or miss. Obviously you should have no problem booting things up on your Vita, but when it comes to Android things start to get a little more complicated. According to my source users with Sony's latest tablets, Xperias, or HTC One-branded handsets should be good to go. Still, as I report now, the HTC transition doesn't exactly appear to be so easy at the moment. The games list is indeed sparse, but titles do start as low as eighty cents and feature Crate Box and Hungry Giraffe among others. Obviously this is something that is in it's early stages, so be kind with Sony as they work to deal with launch problems. Other than that, enjoy the new games!
