Pachter gives out E3 2011 verdict |

Never one to shy away from making controversial comments, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has bestowed the newly announced Wii U with the title of "dumbest name ever". Sony's new handheld, the PlayStation Vita, got second place. Here's Wedbush Morgan's verdict for the big three's E3 2011 presentations.
On Microsoft: "Microsoft appears to us to be making several sound business decisions that will position its console with Kinect as the media center in the living room. While the company’s game lineup was not particularly surprising (only Halo 4 and a handful of Kinect games were “reveals”), its integration of Bing search into Kinect was perhaps the most impactful announcement of the show."
On Nintendo: "The most impactful 'reveal' at the show was the Wii U, which, in our opinion, is arriving two years too late. Depending on pricing, the system will be either a phenomenal success or a phenomenal failure, as competitive bundles for Xbox 360 with Kinect and PS3 with Move are likely to be priced below $300 by the time the Wii U launches.
On Sony: "Sony’s presentation was solid, and the pricing on PlayStation Vita (the second-dumbest name for a device after Wii U) was quite a surprise. Sony also continued to try to integrate its other consumer electronics products into its E3 presentation by announcing a 3DTV PlayStation-branded bundle priced at US$ 499, which we expect to sell exceedingly well."
Pachter also noted that Wedbush Morgan expects the 3DS to sell well during the holidays thanks to a "phenomenal lineup of content," but think that the PS Vita will capture some share when it comes out.

Personally I think the 3DS will flop. I have one and I'm sick of it already. Most of the decent games won't be out until Christmas, and the eShop is appalling gash of the highest order.
Having to spend £20 to buy a game priced at £10.80 (because Nintendo don't deal in less than £10 increments) is just insane.
Last Nintendo console I ever buy? Probably.

PSV, I might go for it only if the homebrew community does a good job and there isn't a bunch of backlash from sony pelting us with constant updates with every new game/feature, which probably will be the case. Me i like pspDISP, play WoW, watch internet T.V and such over it via my PC. So Mobile PC on my PSP with 3G taking it anywhere, kinda looking forward to that but apparently this 3G is gonna be slow so I'll just sit tight and watch the site.
