New Vita Exploit on the Horizon? |
Listed in: Games, News, Tips & Tricks Tags: homebrew, ps vita hacks, vhbl
There's no denying that the PS Vita scene has been absolutely bumping these days with the release of several new game-based exploits in titles like Mad Blocker Alpha, Monster Hunter and Urbanix. Through the use of any of these titles, gamers are able to achieve homebrew capability on firmwares as high as the most recent 1.81 firmware. However, it still seems as if there may be a demand for one more hack should enough people want it.

While these game exploits certainly offer potential homebrewers many chances to be able to score some added functionality on the Vita, the fact of the matter is, the window that one has to actually take advantage of these little secrets has actually been quite slim. After all, all Sony has to do to stop the spread of unwanted code is to remove the game from digital and physical stores until they can work out a newly patched version. Such is what has been done to all of the above mentioned titles, so despite all of the chances, there are still plenty of homebrew hopefuls stuck with nowhere to go.
In response to this, the famed Vita coder known as Frostegater is giving the community a shot at being democratic. In an online poll, he suggests that there is in fact yet another possible software hack that can be used, and should enough gamers see fit to vote for its release then it will eventually be taken public. The thoughts on this concept however are something of a two-edged sword. While voting in favor of the release would offer those that want something right now yet another chance to play homebrew, voting against would allow this hack to be hopefully used at a later date on a later firmware. Whatever decision you want to make is entirely up to you, but at least we can say we do have some more exploits lined up.
