Mortal Kombat Confirmed for Vita

Fans of fights to the death rejoice, for Mortal Kombat is coming to your PS Vitas. The game, developed by NetherRealm specifically for the Vita, doesn’t have an official street date quite yet, but all indications point to a spring release – Fatality!

Details are scarce on the upcoming fighter; what we know is that the Vita version of Mortal Kombat was built around portable gaming and features a few new game mechanics to take advantage of the Vita’s unique control scheme. Look for details over the next couple of months, as all we have to go on at the moment is the official announcement from NetherRealm.


Mortal Kombat is just the latest in a fairly long stream of fighters for the Vita – Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter x Tekken and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend are all expected in the first few months of the system’s western release.

Um, right. Keep thinking that. The game has the exact controls as the PS3 version, but since it doesn't have a R2 and L2, it will probably require some gesture to switch your character in double fights.
Mike Foster is wrong in saying that the game will have different mechanics.

Mortal Kombat is a juggle-style game, like Smash is. I hate games that require you to memorize 10-button combos or whatever. Mortal Kombat has attacks that you string together on our own to allow you to make your own combos.

Once you get to a higher level of gameplay, Mortal Kombat lets you get pretty high in the air. Not as high as Blaz Blu, but definitely more airtime than Street Fighter and Tekken.

Never liked Mortal Kombat anyway because it always feels too... Flat.
I prefer fighters like Street Fighter and Tekken because they have a lot more height in their fight.

Tekken 6 sucked, hope Tekken vs sf is better, but sf vs Tekken can kiss my arse.

are you saying you cant jump in MK?
if anything, it has more of an aerial element than tekken with its aerial juggle combos.
maybe you should actually try the game.
one of the only games where you play a variety of protagonists during the story mode.
