Wow, the last story I wrote about Tretton, you guys were incredibly vocal about your disdain for him. You didn't really explain why but "TRETTON IS A DOOSH" kinda summed up the feelings for some of you. So it seems that with half a million units sold in less than a month in Japan is not good enough for some people and while there are very little numbers emerging from Western countries, I'm sure Sony can only hope for the best.

Sony head Jack Tretton spoke to IGN earlier this week at length about Vita and what to expect from them in 2012. He said regarding the "abysmal" sales in Japan is that "Quite frankly, it scares me if people think that the Japanese launch is struggling. The fact is they sold 500,000 units in three weeks ...I would be pleased if we did 500,000 units in the first three weeks in the United States. I think that's a real healthy number for a new platform launch."

I'd agree with Tretton if it weren't for the fact that everyone else is looking to Apple for Sony's competition. I personally have no problem with Tretton but it seems that a lot of people are not swallowing what Tretton has to offer. I think yeah, sure, if I made a product and it sold half a mill in three weeks, that's pretty good. At around about $250 a pop in the US ($300+ here in Australia), you could make over $100 million in a few short weeks and with the advertising and some great games already out there, I think that Sony has a fighting chance, everyone just needs to stop using the i-Word.

Okay I will put the caps lock and moars away for a srs post, gaiz. Basically Tretton in Sony's world is what a spin doctor is in political world.

Everything that comes out of his mouth is garbage, and forced. He's a soulless cog in the corporate Sony machine and it simply is not turning the dials for them.

The company would be a lot better without him. When he announced the data carrier with a great pause in US (the most hated data carrier) it was so cringeworthy.

Okay /rant
P.S. MOAR KUTARAGI!!

I think you'll find Tretton announced the data carrier for the US @ E3 2011, and it didn't settle well with the audience.

Watch those numbers sky rocket once Monster Hunter hits the shelves in Japan.

It will sell as soon as more games get out, price is fair if not cheap for the hardware. I dont know what you compare it with but if your realistic you will see its lower then any competition for what you get.
I got mine yesterday and i'm in love with the screen and build quality.
Rayman is also awesome.

Even if i was gonna buy it at that ridiculous price they don't sell 32gb cards in UK yet, so i'd be stuck with a 16gb and get a handful of games on before i have to spend more money on the 32gb when they bother to release it, i mean with the pathetic sales in Japan i can't see them really being short of enough 32gb memory chips to supply even more pathetic sales in the rest of the world.

All the Vita needs is the right kind of support and it'll do as well as the 3ds. In the long run, it has a chance. It's a good piece of hardware, I just wait to see where it stands on the software end of things...

People dont forget what $ony did to the PS3 and the PSP.
$ony always lie and remove features.
Just wait for the first hack to the Vita and watch features get removed.

I dont know anyone that will buy a Vita for $ony's history and the way it treats its customers.

Fact is, playing on a cellphone is just not satisfying enough. Specially on one of the slimy new android smartphones, which seem to be to slim. Never played anything on a cellphone other than Tiny Tower worthwhile. Though to be fair, good PSP games weren't exactly aplenty...
Portable consoles do have a place, industry just has to figure out if it's a niche or not.
(FYI I have medium hands, so it's not a case of either farmer or children hands…)
