Guess what was banned in Australia? |

Yeah, about being Australian. We don't have an adult or above 15 year-old rating in Australia yet. We're getting one soon, we swear, just a bunch of idiots in parliament have to make a very crucial decision that they don't entirely understand. So guess what happened to Mortal Kombat when Warner Bros. and NetherRealm submitted it for classification?

The Vita version of the fighting franchise is being banned or Refused Classification in my home country and it looks like they are claiming the same stupidity as they did with the console titles. NetherRealm who developed the last iteration, submitted it about the same time last year and got the exact same response.
Look anyone play the Darkness II recently? Whilst that game is more contextually sound in their violence due to the characterisation and series of situational events, Mortal Kombat has tried to do so via adding a lot of storyline to its series.
A spokesperson from Warner Bros entertainment spoke with GameSpot Australia explaining the situation saying, "we felt that because of the Vita's size, the smaller screen would minimise the impact of the violence in the game and we felt it might fit within the MA15+ category. Obviously, the Classification Board of Australia did not agree."
The publisher also said that the version they submitted was not the console version, nor was it different from any other global version of the title. Also there were Vita specific moves, features and content that would have been awesome...alas we will not get it here...without some importing.
I think what games like this should do is pull a Trey Parker and Matt Stone, where they send a version of the game that is explicit sexually and violently and over the top in every way and then resubmit the game in its original form and it'll easily get a classification.

There are TONS of things US can learn from us Ozs. Your (as in YOU) just too narrow minded to even consider the possibilities.
Peace amongst others, crime and above all. Learn to let bye-gons be bye-gons! to name a few...
Hell, your 4 fathers did all the hard work and your taking credit for something you took no part of.
Btw, "Giving crap to allied countries is a BIG no no" should be number #1 on your beloved amendments/constitution.
That comment alone just shows what kind of person you are.
I adore this country and I'd be damned if a lil' turd like u thinks he can get away with a retarded comment like that.
Which is btw just plain wrong. The only one you got right is the topic here at hand (games and media) otherwise, AUS are also privy to those rights and opinions. As for creativity, hell I can't even think of one civilized country that doesn't allow creativity!
So seriously! how old are you! my guess is 9-.

Thank god the original MK arcade titles are already released here in AUS on the PSP as well as PS3 & X360. Plus, if your that much of a fan anyway. You should be emulating the greats and not depending on lazy arse devs (be it a port or worst)and companies to do it for you.
Still, the whole point that AUS doesn't have a mature category when it comes to gaming is just bonkers. It's like we have the gay'est ppl working on the major gaming corps here. Those that represents government officials are just as clueless.
This matter seriously needs to be reformed asap.
Our poor country is just getting hammered left-right and center to no point at all that is acceptable.
Nevertheless, I was thinking of getting a vita next week but judging from the latest developments or lack of it since the release.
Hell, I only want it for one game and one game alone so far. That is FIFA. Others are just low budget versions of their console counterparts.
FIFA is the only one I've seen and tried 1st hand that is good enough to actually own.
So that's 1 game out of all of em... That alone says A LOT imho!
It makes me think that this will be just a Sony novelty device rather than what they claim and advertise it's support/going to be.
Now I seriously would rather just wait for the upcoming osom release titles.
Note to Sony: Get your act together and give ppl what they want instead of telling them what to want. ppfffftttt...
That too also goes for AUS politician reps!
Sony fanboys: I'll say this once and once only. Give it up already, I ain't hatting. Just stating fact.
I own all of today's gen console/handheld/etc... So bite me.
Only a complete moron would pick one and leave the other. Your loss + no one's impress. *that is an insult btw for those wondering
Gz Up Hoes Down
