Analyst: 3DS cut puts Vita in tough position |
Listed in: News Tags: Billy Pidgeon, Jesse Divnich, Nintendo, Sony

Video game analysts believe the PS Vita will be in a tough position due to the Nintendo 3DS price cut.
"When Sony announced PS Vita pricing at $249.99, 3DS price had to come down. PS Vita pricing feels compatible with value now, but unless the economy improves more rapidly, a price cut should come sooner rather than later," said Billy Pidgeon of M2 Research.
Jesse Divnich agreed, saying: "This price cut does put the Vita in a tough position. It all comes down to the content and if the Vita can deliver a library of high quality entertainment products, it should be able to thrive at the $249 price point."
However, David Cole from DFC Intelligence thinks that Nintendo are the ones in the hot spot.
"I just looked at [Nintendo's] revised financial forecasts and they are ready to take a hit. They are really being aggressive. It is very unlike Nintendo to be willing to take such a loss," Cole said. "I think what it says is that they really feel the heat from the Sony Vita. I see it as a move to protect their market share and position in handhelds. I would not call it desperation but more a very aggressive defensive action by the market leader to hold on to market position."

Nintendo reduces price to encourage sales.
...
Vita is a tough position.
Really? I don't see it.
By the ay, has anybody else noticed a habit of putting news articles in somewhat wrong sections. Anti-Vita "news" in the Vita section. Why is this article not also in the 3DS section? This is something people do at imageboards, not something a staff member on a "news" site should do.

the 3DS had bad to no games at release. The 3DS is fun to play. but the library of games are very limited.
As for the PSVITA. Do I have to remind you that 150 Individual developer studio's are curently working on the Vita and ,
Awesome game's like Uncharted and TekkenVStreetfi ghter,LittleBig Planet, Bioshock etc. will be released at launch?
I'm not even talking about the hardware upgrade vs the 3DS upgrade.
The price cut won't do any good, because the fans who want a PSVITA won't suddenly change their mind Just because it's cheaper besides, you can buy the 3DS for the price cut but what benefit will you have when there's only a few games vs a console wich will have allot of games at release and many yet to come.?
PS: what are you trying to accompish with an article like this? Are you Anti Vita?
I bet that just before the launch of the VITA you will come with a story on how awesome the 3DS is.

Comparing an outdated console such as 3DS to PS Vita just isn't fair.
PS Vita is completely worth the money.

If I didn't need the 3DS to review games on, I'd sell it.
The Vita looks incredible by comparison - proper next gen features, and even little things like bluetooth allowing for wireless headphones, it makes the 3DS look like what it is - a gimmicky stop-gap before the next Nintendo console. More fool me for falling for it :(
