Nyko Already Have Vita Accessories Lined Up

When it comes to handheld machines, a big market is third party accessories. Home consoles have them too, but I find it’s just not to the same extent.

Well, none other than Nyko were at the Consumer Electronics Show and were all set to announce that they have accessories already lined up for the release of the Vita.

What accessories? Well details were vague, but Nyko said that they’ll be going for whatever worked for the PSP. So first on the list is a power grip, turning the Vita into more of a DualShock, and Nyko have already said that a version for the Vita is in the works, although no product has been unveiled them yet. Other high selling PSP accessories were of course the screen armour and the home theatre add-on.

The screen protector in particular might be more useful on the Vita, what with the touch screen probably costing a fortune to replace should anything happen to it. Personally, I’m just waiting for the batteries to come in. I remember stocking up on multiple PSP batteries on my travels.

Man they were overpriced.

So, what accessories are you looking forward to grabbing, or are hoping will be made that weren’t around for the PSP?

Nyko had a totally amazing Black Metal Speaker case for the psp. The best part about this speaker case over other speaker cases is that it had it's own rechargeable battery that also charged the psp at the same time adding at least another 3hrs to your system.
Such a great case when you have a job where you work in a room by yourself.

You can still provide power externally. How do you think the batteries get charged?

Last I read on the matter, batteries were internalised as a non-user-servicable component to prevent another Pandora battery from happening.

This is confirmed on a Sony page, no less (last Q of the page). As it stands, my point was toward the article's author that there cannot possibly be a third-party replacement battery in the sense, as it is not a user-servicable component.

You can add "extra batteries" the same way that some speaker cases ran on their own battery but also plugged into the psp charging port that would also charge the psp while it was docked on the speakers from their battery.
So in that "duel shock" mock image...they could easily add some battery cells in there and just have it plug into the charging port.

But you can't carry spare Vita batteries unlike how the QJ author seems to think things are.

Assume they are either lying or being right, but in a way that is useless to you. As in, "You can replace it, but you void the warranty". Or, "You can replace it by sending it to Sony, paying for shipping, and paying Sony x dollars".

Only accessory i care about is a Micro SD adapter, and i reckon Datel's the one to be looking at for that.

The PS vita batteries are built in -.- you cannot buy spare batteries...fail article but there is already a portable charger for the PS vita coming out

He didn't say "spare batteries". He just said batteries. It is possible to charge a device with batteries.

You can charge batteries, yes, but that's not the point.

You can't, however, *add* or *remove* batteries to/from a Vita without voiding warranty. The phrase "multiple PSP batteries" implies supplements in addition to the PSP's stock battery, which has become a moot point with the Vita.

The phrase "multipe PSP batteries" is just that, PSP batteries. You are pretending everything he says about the PSP applies to the Vita. It does not. Yes, he could buy multiple internal batteries for the PSP and he shared that fact with us. Does that mean he thinks that the Vita has a serviceable internal battery? No.

i'm just waiting on the external umd drive, its what the TOP port is for. Sept 12th it'll be officially announced.....

All that's on the top are the L and R buttons, the Volume buttons, the Power button, and the MS/Game slot. There is no other port on top.
