PoV: The little things Skyrim needs |
Listed in: Xbox 360 Tags: Bethesda, skyrim, the elder scrolls

The Elder Scroll V: Skyrim is one of the best looking and most realistic game to release this year, but there are several little things that can be done to add to the immersion.
It was confirmed that Skyrim will have a marriage mechanic. We don't know how fleshed out it will be, but I'm hoping it's not something as simple as getting 100 disposition with a female character and giving her a ring. If done right, marriage can be a great addition to the game depending on how players want to use it.
A dynamic season system will really add to the immersion in Skyrim. Oblivion had random season effects, and due to this, it would sometimes snow in the Summer. A dynamic season system would make it so that it would snow everywhere in the Winter time.
Random weather effects would be nice, too. Thunderstorms and rain would be fantastic if they aren't used only in scripted instances. There's nothing cooler than a random rain storm. It makes the world feel more authentic.

I agree with shveet tbh. Fast travel is really too enticing not to use when given the option and it takes away from the immersion. I think hired chariots, blink spells and better horse/dragon riding mechanics would make for more immersible gameplay.
Granted though, fast travel is convenient for quick gaming sessions and off-loading loot... but at the same time, I never really thought of the elder scrolls games to be games catered towards 'quick' plays. Also, it's really easy to make thousands quickly in oblivion, partly due to the speed at which you can get loot and then off-load it with fast-travel.. maybe looting is too easy as it is.
