Industry analyst Michael Pachter predicts that Sony's PlayStation 3 will win this holiday season, if Microsoft won't cut the price of its Xbox 360 console.
Although company enjoyed a huge success in North America since last year, thids holiday season, things could be a little different in Microsoft's camp, thanks to the recent PS3 price drop.
"If Microsoft does nothing, I think PS3 will outsell Xbox 360," the analyst said. "However, my friends at Microsoft are extremely proud, and they absolutely refuse to tolerate the possibility that the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360. I think they have the ads printed for the Xbox 360 price cut, and will drop them on us the instant they see PS3 sales greater than 360 sales."
He added, "In the meantime, I think we'll see a reduction in the price of the Xbox 360/Kinect bundles, and Microsoft will use that to keep the PS3 at bay until they decide whether to match price for the console only."
Sony's decision to drop the price of the PS3 ahead of the holiday season seemed to have worked in their favor, with the company reporting sales of its console exploding in Australia and Japan following the recent price drop. The last console I bought new was a PSP (white) like 3 yrs ago. My 360 & PS3 & Wii are all USED as well as my DS lite. (you can tell I like to game)LOL!
I dont care how many price drops the consoles go downward....Its still too much! And Software prices are also to high. Buying new is a Rip-Off honestly.
Private sales thru auctions are generally rewarding (as in cheap).
And the current Gens specs are painfully outdated already (specially 360) and the PS3s biggest problem is its shitty 256mb Ram/Vram. That really holds it back.Jeez.
I hope the next upcoming Gens don't get thrown into the 'cut costs' 'for better, for worse' concept as has been done before...many times over.
PS......And make the next NEXT GENS have plenty of RAM/VRAM, multicore CPU/GPU & support ULTRA HD as well. Maybe then they might actually reach the full 10yrs life span that the manufacturers want from them?
