PoV: Holiday 2011 is great for gamers

Bethesda's Pete Hines feels that some games will get overlooked this holiday season, but with so many high quality titles on the horizon, I don't think this will be the case.

On the shooter front, there are three big titles releasing: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, and Gears of War 3. The big "battle" will be between Call of Duty and Battlefield -- Gears of War 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive, so it will easily sell well to that audience.

The Wii and PlayStation 3 exclusives -- Zelda: Skyward Sword and Uncharted 3 -- won't be overlooked, either. Uncharted has already established itself as a great series, and fans have been waiting for Skyward Sword for the last five years.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, naturally, won't be overlooked, either. There's too much hype behind it for it to get lost in all the other great games that are releasing.

On the handheld front, there are tons of great 3DS games that are releasing. Kid Icarus: Uprising might actually get overlooked, depending on how close it releases to Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land. We're not yet sure if Vita will be releasing this holiday season in North America.
