PoV: Dead franchises that need to come back

There are so many great franchises that haven't seen a new release in years. Which ones desperately need a new title?

Free Radical's comments about Time Splitters 4 today had me thinking -- there are too many fracnhsies that get the axe because their sales didn't quite cut it. They were fantastic games too, especially in the case of Time Splitters.

Another franchise that I would love to see return is Eternal Darkness. The GameCube outing was creepy and awesome; by far one of the best psychological horror games to ever release.

Killer Instinct is another series I think we can all agree on. The only problem with a possible revival is that Rare is just a shell of their former selves, and turning it over to another developer may take away its charm. I'd honestly be surprised if we ever see another Killer Instinct.

yeh those titles would be good, but ki and ki2 wore originally arcade games and only kI went to snes, but then if it came back how would they make it how would they crap it like some stuff that they do by bringing back, should be good or at least port it and do some little changes to it...

Yeah, that game was great.
The only other game I've found close to it is Untold Legends on PS3, but it wasn't as good and didn't have the customization CoN had.

A solution I would think of is Mortal Kombat buying the license to use the old Killer Instinct characters and logos and intellectual properties, then creating an ultra violent crossover or DLC based off of them! Netherrealm/Midway did an AMAZING job with Mortal Kombat. In fact, it was so good that I actually went back to play UMK3 and had an awesome time with it.

Yeah I always thought a Mortal Kombat Killer Instinct crossover would be the shit. I do feel that Silicon Knight's story Eternal Darkness definitely deserves a sequel and Nintendo needs to get on the ball on and give us some more FALCON PAWNCH!!!! F-Zero.

Killer Instinct was a sack of shit, a virtual colostomy bag.

Slow, cumbersome and ugly. The characters didn't scream anything special about them at all and the game itself was just plain, stock, tried to ride on the backs of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat and failed.

People liked it because it was a bit different, because it wasn't SF or MK.

Now franchises I would like to see come back?
None, because there were none that disappeared that I liked from then til now. Super Dodge Ball? RC Pro AM? Classic Final Fantasy?

some absolute timely classics on the N64, such as the BattleTanx and Rush/San Francisco Rush series? I know it doesn't help that 3DO and Midway Games are pushing up daisies... but still. There's also Blast Corps... that of which sits in a similar boat as KI, developed by Rare and published by Nintendo. Damn it all.

It'd be great to see the Road Rash series revived, provided EA could do it correctly. I'd also heavily agree that the likes of Killer Instinct should be revived, at least to some level. Seeing the ever iconic Fulgore, Jago, Riptor, Orchid, Etc. revived is something that's taken far too long.

Sadly, nostalgia is a bitch... It makes you recall the games of old and how much fun you've had with them. And yet, while you yearn for their revival, it also frightens you that their revival may also completely ruin those memories due to the possibility of a butchered resurrecting.

A new F-Zero, with music similar to what was in X; not that techno junk like on GX. Bring on more heavy metal F-Zero!!!
