PoV: A simple reason why New Vegas is better than Fallout 3

Fallout 3 is a critically acclaimed game from Bethesda, but New Vegas, which was scored lower by reviewers, is the better game for one simple reason.

Throughout the entire game, Fallout 3 never manages to erase a feeling of claustrophobia. While it's accurate considering the setting, Fallout 3 is littered with underground metros that players have to explore very frequently. The game seldom allows players to explore above ground for a long period of time, thus making Fallout 3 feel extremely linear and limited.

Fallout: New Vegas has a far better setting than its predecessor, thanks to a wild west theme and a wide open world. Players get the feeling that they can do anything and go anywhere in New Vegas since the game doesn't force players to travel through annoying metros. Not only that, but New Vegas has more civilization. I realize that it's a post-apocalyptic world, but the fact that New Vegas has some towns here and there, Las Vegas, and an awesome conflict between the NCR and Caesar's Legion makes it a far more enjoyable game.

Did anyone else like New Vegas more than F3?

I got the PS3 version of fallout 3 with all the DLC. 80% of the DLC was completely unplayable due to crashing. about every 8 minutes.

Fallout 3 has to be 1 of the most overrated games i ever played. It was just too much wandering with tasks that too often just didn't feel interconnected enough with the game and the whole thing just started to feel more like work than entertainment, and i'm the sort who'd happily go through thousands of little battles in an RPG just to build up my stats, but this game was just missing that entertainment value where i can get some enjoyment from Vegas.

I sure did, but only because metros creep me out, and because NV had iron-sights. Otherwise FO3 was an overall better game.

there is too much work and not fun at all most of the game, they could at least make it easier to travel around instead of walking to the destination, come on they have freaking robots all around and bikes and cars, what repair skills and cience for jez, i have fallout 3 game of the year that comes with all extra stories dlc, again too much work, get annoying, now new vegas u play what ever you do its basically the same ending story there could at least have a new game plus since its a shorter game- story wise...

i agree although fallout 3 is a very good game i think even with allthe DLC for it it still felt limited and closterphobic and new vegas even with its cliches it feels much bigger speaking of cliches there is one for ya when you have the anti materal rifle loaded with incendary rounds if you just use vats and then leave vats the target catches fire

Cliches? You mean glitches? Two veeeery different things.

A cliche is overused and often times campy.

A glitch is what you described.

I pretty much never explored any metros in F3. I was almost always above ground, and yet - I completed every single side quest including all the dlc.
