PoV: Wii needs a price cut soon |
Listed in: Wii Tags: e3 2011, Nintendo
Enough with the bundles Nintendo, we need a proper price cut for the Wii soon.

With E3 2011 just around the corner, rumors of a possible Wii price drop have begun swirling again with Engadget reporting this morning that based on their "trusted" source, Nintendo will soon be cutting the price of its home console down to US$ 150 starting May 15th.
Although Nintendo won’t comment on the report, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the somewhat aging console getting a price cut soon. Afterall, the firm have been struggling lately with the sales of the Wii going down hill and the recently release 3DS also starting to falter after its record breaking launch day.
Cutting the price of the Wii less than a month before E3 could be smart move for Nintendo to sell its remaining stocks and gain a bit more ground in preparation perhaps of the long rumored Wii successor.
Do you think Nintendo will finally cut the price of the Wii next month? What features to do you like to see on the rumored Wii 2? Share your thoughts below or continue the discussion at the forums.

Their target audience has mostly been the casual gamer, and I think a person who doesn't own a Wii by now, surely doesn't own a 3DS. Which would they take? Most likely the cheaper one, thus having the 3DS lose a potential customer. I dunno, that's how I believe it would happen.

Nintendo could stop selling the Wii tomorrow and they would be just fine. With that said I see no intensive to cut the price.

That's not a slow start.
Also, if Nintendo has 6 years of reserve to dip into then....how is that "trouble"? Sounds pretty damn good to me!

Me thinks youa re a little lost here, where is Nintendo in trouible, they never sold somethign at loss, they are not Sony or MS, they still need a lot of sales to actually "profit" as they though they would like 3 years ago.
And you are comparing the Wii to N64 ..is not like the N64 skyrocket sales through 3-4 years..
No price cut means they have plenty...of time..
