PoV: Who should develop Wii U Metroid?

A new Metroid title on Wii U is going to happen. Who should be the developer?

Earlier today, Nintendo's Katsuya Eguchi told Kotaku that the time to develop a new Metroid game is right now.

"I can't give you any details now, but I'm sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information," Eguchi said. "Maybe the player is looking at the screen but has the information that they need to defeat the enemy in their hands. You could look through the screen and scan your enemy and find where it's weakspot is."

But who should develop this new game? Team Ninja did a decent job with Metroid: Other M, but it really didn't feel like a Metroid game.

With all the power the Wii U houses, it's really a no brainer: Retro Studios needs to make the next Metroid.

Imagine a new Metroid Prime game in stunning 1080p HD. So many new innovations can be done with the new controller. There was a rumor floating around that Retro is making a game that "everyone wants them to make," and for me, that game is Metroid Prime.

agreed.
They need to make an HD Super Metroid.
They seriously need to stop with the Prime series though cause they suck so much. The only ones that were worth playing were: Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Other M. Well, and Super Zero Mission if you want to count that.

Honestly, What made Metroid Prime so awesome was it's contract out to Retro. But seriously let someone else have a chance (come on people Other M wasn't as bad as you think [hint: Gameplay was what mattered not story and they did a fantastic job of that]).

Wasn't yes, but playing with the Wiimote isntead of nunchuck + Wiimote ...it was...awfull

Exactly my point however I used the ocarina cheats to adjust the controls for it. Same thing I did with DKC Returns.

I'm so tried of games trying to make Metroid more than just a side scroller. Just like the sonic games, noting compared to when it stuck to the Metroidvania playstyle.

Retro would be my choice. With Donkey Kong Country Returns they proved they can even do amazing sidescrollers. Personally, I was Retro to take a crack at making a third-person action adventure Metroid(a GOOD one), and a sidescrolling Metroid. I personally think they would do a great job. I personally feel that Nintendo should purchase Retro, I mean they work so well together. Every game I've played that Nintendo and Retro partnered on was a AAA title in my opinion.

Also, lordrand11, the whole point of Other M was the story, the developers even said as much, and the story was that of a bad B movie. It had terrible acting, Samus Aran should remain a mute, or be voice acted by a good voiceactress and not a zombiestatue. When I imagine Samus speaking, she never says "The Baby..." like a statue who is trying to mourn a child. Hell, she just never says that line. If I ever wrote a story, and a character spoke like that, it would be a fantasy story and the character would infact be a zombiestatue.

If Tecmo drops the story telling aspects, they could do better the next time around. I enjoyed Other M but felt it was a little short and too much story.

Metroid Prime is a trilogy, and while it may be sad for the most of us, it's done for after three titles. fortunately enough, this may be a good thing for reasons such as the fact the Metroid Prime almost was just a side story in the Metroid series that wasn't significant to the overall timeline, really. For me, what makes the game so great is the story and that's what I really want from another Metroid release.

retro studios definitely. it cant be metroid prime 4 cause metroid prime was killed in prime 3. but a remake of prime 1 in hd would be amazing. or they could continue on with their prime 3 cliffhangar and make a metroid prime hunters 2...

Retro Studios for gods sake. IMO, only they can undo the damage Other M did to the franchise. Image HD graphics followed by Retro's always stellar art direction, can't wait to see that. And they've just proved themselves as a 2-D developer with the awesome Donkey Kong Country Return's. An HD Metroid side-scroller with Retro's art and game design, along with Kenji Yamamoto's Super Metroid/Prime music is the perfect game for me. Also, be sure to kill Yoshio Sakamoto so he can't damage the game, take out cutscenes, and shut Samus the fuck up. Silent Samus is better cause she's a badass and we can then implant our own charactaristics and moralities onto her. Retro did say the were making a game "everyone wants us to do", I can only pray that it's a 2-D Metroid game, I guess we'll have to wait for E3 to find out...
