PoV: The perfect genre for motion control

Not every game works well with motion control, but there's one genre that's perfect for it.

First person shooters are the ideal games to work with motion controls.

It took a while for developers to use motion control with FPS games correctly -- everyone remembers how terrible Red Steel controlled. The first game that really used it perfectly was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and shortly after that, The Conduit. Metroid Prime Trilogy was amazing as well.

Motion control with shooters makes use of IR, allowing players to aim with precise, pixel to pixel precision that isn't possible with dual analog. It's so superior that it doesn't have to make use of tricks like auto-aim that dual analog has to use for it to work properly.

The few shooters on PS3 that use Move are also fantastic control-wise. Killzone 3, for instance, controls beautifully.

Yeah but you need a completely different technique playing FPSs with motion control, i mean first thing close quarter battle is really tricky with motion controls so always find myself backing up and attacking from a distance, so even though you can enjoy it more if your opponent uses a controller he has the edge getting close up.

why does everyone say red steel sucked. i thought it was awesome and i barely had any troubles aiming. pretty solid for a 3rd party game.

on topic FP RPG ala Oblivion would be the way to go. Shooters are good and racing games can be ok as well but any game can make good use out of extra precision.

Okay, dude, keep thinking that. Consistantly, gamers have chosen not to use motion controls for FPS's. That's why the sales are horrible for them on the Wii.
If you want to talk about a good control scheme for FPS's, look at the mouse and keyboard.

And the fact that FPS's have much stronger fanbases on consoles other than Wii, not to mention Wii's lack of DLC and poor online play don't have anything at all to do with the lower sales, right?

(Mouse and Keyboard ain't bad though, I'll give you that. But people don't pick up a Wii so they can play Call of Duty, now do they?)

Actually, I'll agree with you on that. A lot of people chose to buy a different console over the Wii because they knew the Wii had many downsides to playing FPS's on it like Call of Duty.
That's why it has a much stronger fanbase on other consoles. Because they suck on the Wii.

Skyrim would be pretty epic with it using the Move, since it can sense depth, you could actually physically pick up and manipulate objects and the such...

Mouse and keyboard is the way to go. FPS on the Wii is horrifying.

i always stayed back from fps games because you had to use a mouse and a keyboard to be precise and keyboards suck... on the otherhand with analougs it not that precises.. However with motion controllers like the move in killzone 3 it is an amazing experience although it took some time to get used to it once i got the hang of it it feels very real
