PoV: Pokemon announcement wasn't what was expected

A leak a while ago revealed that Japanese magazine Dengeki Nintendo would be showing a brand new Pokemon game. Speculation ran rampant as everyone expected either a Pokemon Colosseum style game for Wii or a brand new Pokemon adventure for Nintendo 3DS. The new Pokemon game has been revealed, and it's not exactly the most exciting thing in the world.

The new Pokemon game, titled Pokemon Battrio V, isn't a new Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon Grey. It's... an arcade game. Exclusively for Japan.

According to the magazine, the arcade will make use of real life circular chips players use with the machines to activate their Pokemon. New battle chips can be purchased, and they include the latest generation, Pokemon Black and White.

This is massively disappointing news, especially for fans of Pokemon Colosseum, the game that was rumored to see a sequel on Wii. The fact that it's Japanese exclusive adds insult to injury, even though arcade machines aren't popular in the United States anymore.

The only good news to take out of this is that E3 2011 is just 17 days away. Nintendo has promised new Wii content aside from Zelda, so hopefully we'll still get that Pokemon Colosseum sequel. And we better, because Pokemon Battle Revolution was terrible.

I am pretty sure it's gonna be on the Wii2 anyway. And its getting annoying with the rise of arcade games that makes you purchase cards and stuff to play said game... Though what would be really cool is to finally have god damn duel arena using pre-existing yugioh cards.

Guess Pokemon 3DS would come out next year as well, heralding the apocalypse.

I think was really got under my skin about Battle Revolutions was they reused all the animations from the N64 games.

Each Pokemon's model should be refined like the one's from Brawl EX: Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, etc.

The Game should be Packed with Content like Pokemon Stadiums were at the time and also have a more complex online.

Personally I feel they should go Cell Shading for the 3D Pokemon Models similar to that of Dragon Quest that way they can keep that Anime feel to them...but yeah Its hard to see that coming to fruition

y do u keep mentioning Pokemon Colosseum, that game was fucking terrible. i much preferred the N64 stadium games. much better, didnt use the cheap 8 bit gameboy sounds.

and also so what if battle revolution reused the animations from stadium 2 (sure thats lazy), but i much prefer stadiums animations over the lackluster gamecube and wii counterparts

Totally agree with you guys on this one ever since Stadium 1 and 2 were made Nintendo has been really messing up on these games. They really need to look at how they did those games and work off that because any Pokemon game released on a console after stadium 1 and 2 has been a huge disappointment.
