Ghostbusters: The Video Game

Ghostbusters was a total homage to the movies and those that love the movies will get all the references. You get the original Ghostbusters and all the appropriate voice actors, plus some outlying cast members as well. Dan Akroyd even called it "essentially the third movie." It's third-person and borrows heavily from Gears of War in the gameplay, believe it or not. There are all kinds of funky weapons to use and you actually have to use the traps and proton packs they use in the movies to wrangle and capture ghosts. There is also a four-player co-op mode in which you can play the original Ghostbusters, rather than the voiceless "Rookie" you play in single player. It's a great stand-in while we're waiting for Bill Murray to get off his high horse and let the third movie get made.
Metro 2033

Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic FPS set in a future Russia that has been devastated by the mysterious Dark Ones. You never know if these things are supernatural or if there's some "rational" explanation. You are a Ranger, one of the good guys that have to scrape buy to survive in the metro system underneath Moscow, hence the name. There are also bad guy humans that have adopted the mentality of Nazi Germany to contend with, plus all the damn monsters! Your weapons are all cobbled together and falling apart, ammo is currency, and any time you go to the surface you have to wear a gas mask, which can be damaged to the point where it not longer functions. You also have to keep a supply of air cartridges for said gas mask on hand as well. Hey, I'm a glutton for punishment. There's a sequel coming in 2012.
Transformers: War for Cybertron

I've already chimed in on this game elsewhere and this post is getting a bit long, but Transformers: War for Cybertron is all about giving a strong nod towards the Gen 1 cartoon and toys and completely ignoring Michael Bay's craptastic movies. The Transformers look like what you want them to look like, but updated for modern sensibilities and its class-based multiplayer is just oh-so fun. This one also has a sequel coming in 2012.
All right, now it's your turn. What are your favorite overlooked/underrated/underappreciated games this gen?

Who says SP is dead and MP is the future - bah...humbug to MP!
Retail disk with SP campaigns with a co-op attachment inc that's my idea of a real enjoyable game.
MP should only be an additional DLC that you have to pay for extra (if ya really want it - poo).
On another note - 'Vanquish' was only half done because 'Revengence' was taken up by Platinum when they were in the middle of making it, so they rushed it out incomplete. Lack of dev team members to take on both projects.
And ninja theory had better have LOCAL (same screen) & online 2-player co-op for the new DMC otherwise no one will care about it - just like they didn't care about 'Enslaved'
LOL

But the most overlooked gem this entire generation is shadowed of the damned. Everyone I recommend that game to LOVES it, blame the lack of marketing for not knowing about it.

Not as much as Dead Island but enough to make it unable to be replayable.
