Sound Off: On Microtransactions |

Microtransactions, for those of you that are unfamiliar, are small-value purchases that can be executed in a video game for some sort of reward. For instance, you can buy yourself a cute vanity pet in World of Warcraft, or pick up a service package in Mass Effect 3. Microtransactions are usually priced small, but the value adds up for publishers when millions of players get onboard.

EA hasn’t been shy about its love for microtransactions and intends to put them in every game it publishes from now on. Other publishers are following similar paths—almost all modern games have in-game content available for a reasonable fee. It seems to be one of the primary profit-methods of the games industry, since the days of the $60 box game are coming to a close.
So we want to know what you think. Are you onboard with microtransactions? Do you spend real money on in-game items for a little boost, or do you think all game content should come on the disc?
