Sound Off: Are Reviews too Soft? |
Listed in: PS3 Tags: black ops ii, call of duty, metacritic, review scale, reviews
There is a problem in the games industry—one that has everything to do with the way in which titles are rated. Many reviewers (and aggregators) use a 1-10 system, or a 1-100 system that’s pretty much the exact same thing.

The only problem is that the enormous majority of games seem to land in the 70-100 range. Bad game? 70’s. Good game? 80’s. Perfect game? 90’s. So what, exactly, are the numbers 1-7 up to? Are they just there for trolls to use while trying to purposefully drag down a Metacritic score, or for when one guy (like the PC Gamer reviewer from earlier) wants to make a point?
This is the question we have for you, QJ readers: Does the current review system work, or are critics and the scores they use a little too soft on sub-par titles?

Anyway, they're being too soft on games, because they're biased, don't properly score and average aspects, and are paid off by the video gam-*is shot*...
